Honey Barrel Finished
Bourbon Event Postponed

Earlier this week, Governor DeWine declared a state of emergency in response to the confirmation of multiple cases of COVID-19 in Cuyahoga County.

As concerns about COVID-19 grow, we have been following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as advisories from the Ohio Department of Health and local public health officials at the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.

Of course, we’re also listening to the same news that you’re hearing.  Some of it informative, some confusing.  Importantly we need to do that right thing.

With that said, we’ve decided it’s far better to err on the side of caution and safety and are postponing our Open House event scheduled for Saturday March 21st.

For the 456 people who have already registered for the event, don’t worry, once conditions change sufficiently, we’ll reschedule.  In the meantime, we’ll let the “honey barrel” bourbon rest a little while longer.  Believe me, when we finally have the event, it will be just as delicious, and well worth waiting for.

In the meantime, we’ll continue producing and stocking our retail stores with all of our existing brands and don’t expect any shortages.

Please stay safe.

We are really excited about this unique distillery-only release. It is really special. This time we finished our bourbon in a barrel used to age local honey from Akron Honey. Brent Wesley and Akron Honey Company has been harvesting urban honey in Akron for more than 6 years. His motto is ‘it’s all about the flavor’ and that is something we share.

Flavor Rules.

After an introduction was made we embarked on a flavor journey–starting with Honey aging in a freshly emptied bourbon barrel yielding bourbon barrel-aged Akron Honey. Then we refilled that barrel with our bourbon to get quite literally our own take on a Honey Barrel. It is something out of old-bourbon lore. It is the quintessential ideal bourbon barrel. We present this bourbon non-chill filtered and bottled at barrel strength to preserve as much of the natural honey and bourbon character as possible. This is the first barrel proof offering we have bottled for sale. Very exciting.

Akron Honey will be at the distillery to showcase their honey as well.
