Whiskey Watermelon Picnic

Sprinkling a little salt on your watermelon has become a staple for some, but for others, not so much. Some people say it makes the watermelon taste better, but how though. Well, watermelon is bitter, sweet, and sour. This is what makes watermelon so unique, the bitter flavors are strong enough to keep the sweet from being overpowering, and the sour makes the bitter more manageable. When you sprinkle salt on your watermelon, the balance of flavors shifts and the taste becomes increasingly sweet! When the bitterness of the watermelon is masked by the salt, the sugary sweetness shines bright! Salt can also activate your salivary glands, so a bit of salt could actually make watermelon seem juicier. We thought re-creating this delicious phenomenon would be an awesome cocktail idea, introducing the Whiskey Watermelon Picnic!
