Honey's Hammock - Whiskey Sling Reinvented: A Sweet & Savory Sensation
History of the Whiskey Sling
The Whiskey Sling can trace its origins back to the 1700s, where it was enjoyed in its simplest form – whiskey, sugar, and water. Over time, this recipe has been adapted and modified, with bartenders adding their own unique twists. Today, the whiskey sling is a versatile drink that can be customized to suit any palate.
Crafting the Perfect Whiskey Sling
The key to a great Whiskey Sling is using high-quality ingredients. Start with a good quality whiskey – a smooth, full-bodied bourbon, like Wheat Penny 1958, works well for this cocktail.
Savor the Flavor
This Whiskey Sling variation is a delightful mix of sweet and savory. We call it the Honey’s Hammock. The Wheated Bourbon finished with Black Cherry Wood Bourbon adds a warm, smoky flavor, while the St. Germain and Buckeye Cherry Liqueur bring a touch of fruity sweetness. The lemon juice adds a burst of citrusy brightness, and the peach bitters enhance the drink’s complexity. The honey adds a silky texture that ties everything together.
Whether you’re a whiskey aficionado or a cocktail enthusiast, this reinvented Whiskey Sling is sure to delight your taste buds and elevate your drinking experience. Give it a try, and enjoy a sweet and savory sensation that will leave you wanting more.
