Honey Lavender Rush
Last week our “Mixologist” was out doing what every other Clevelander does during the summer, enjoying Mitchell’s Ice Cream. In particular, their seasonal Lavender Honey flavor. It is flavored with fresh lavender flowers from Mulberry Creek and Ohio honey. First of all, if y’all haven’t had it yet, go give it a try! Second of all, it was SO good that we had to craft a cocktail that resembled the flavor. We landed on this Honey Lavender Rush and it is spectacular!
This delicious drink features our Bourbon Whiskey Finished with Black Cherry Wood, a homemade honey vanilla syrup that is so easy to make, and lavender bitters. We made our own lavender bitters by soaking lavender petals in a sealed jar of vodka for 2-3 days and then strained that liquid into a dropper bottle. The caramel notes from the whiskey combined with slightly sweet notes of vanilla and honey and the gentleness of the lavender create a peaceful sensation on your taste buds and a calming effect on your mind. If we could describe that feeling, it’d be like enjoying a peaceful August evening watching the lightning bugs light up your backyard with the calming sounds of crickets echoing. Sounds nice, right? Now it’s time to get crafting, cheers! Please enjoy responsibly.
