Contemporary Julep

I’m not sure what exactly was wrong with its predecessor, but the contemporary is to be eulogized. Exalted. Songs should be written. Cherubs reciting poetry, …. Ok, you get it. This cocktail is glorious. Whenever you combine sugar with peaches, angels sing. And then there’s the best bourbon ever – the Bourbon Whiskey with Black Cherry Wood. Paradise – Found.

Recipe

You will need:

2 1/2 oz       Cleveland Underground Bourbon Whiskey Finished with Black Cherry Wood
1/2 oz           Dark Brown Sugar Syrup
2 Dashes     Fee Brothers Peach Bitters (optional)
1 handful  of fresh mint leaves

Directions:

  1. Take most of fresh mint leaves, roll them between your palms and clap your hands on the bundle once. Add this to a shaker tin, then add ice and shake the above ingredients.
  2. Strain into a Julep Glass packed with crushed ice, then stir the drink. Add more crushed ice, keep stirring. Repeat until the glass is frosty and the mug is full.
  3. Garnish with remaining mint and a lemon twist.
