Cleveland Whiskey Negroni

Negroni Week was launched by Imbibe Magazine in 2013 as a celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails and an effort to raise money for charitable causes around the world. Since then, Negroni Week has grown from about 100 participating venues to thousands of venues around the world, and to date, the initiative has raised over $3 million for charitable organizations. Slow Food has been chosen as the official Negroni Week giving partner because the organization addresses so many of the needs participating Negroni Week venues have been most interested in supporting. This includes sustainability, education, equity, and diversity. Slow Food represents the ethos of Negroni Week to cultivate community, foster equity, and justice, and seek a better world for all through food and beverage.

While we don’t have a restaurant or bar, we still wanted to participate and concoct a deliciously unique Cleveland Whiskey Negroni to share with you all. Before we get into the ingredients and whatnot, this cocktail also draws inspiration from one of Cleveland’s most beloved neighborhoods, Little Italy.

We used our classic Black Reserve Bourbon and paired it with the unmistakable, vibrantly red Italian bitter Campari, Sweet Vermouth, and Gin. The Sweet Vermouth really complements the bourbon well with its notes of vanilla, caramel, and darker fruits. The Campari stimulates the senses through a captivating visual and taste experience. The Gin adds a slightly herbal flavor and enhances that citrusy taste. This cocktail seems complex but it really is so easy to make and very delicious. Celebrate Negroni Week with this Cleveland Whiskey Negroni!
