Bourbon & Bees

Bourbon & Bees

We recently read an article by the name of, The Booze & the Bees, by Gray Chapman. Ryan Christiansen, the owner and head distiller of Vermont-based Caledonia Spirits, has been sourcing raw honey for their spirits since the start of their company. Supporting pollinators was important to him, but he didn’t feel like that was enough. So, he and his buddy came up with Bee’s Knees week. The idea was that for one week in September, bars and restaurants across the country can serve their own version of the Bee’s Knees cocktail, a Prohibition-era classic. Ours is called – Bourbon & Bees. $1 from each drink would go to nonprofit supporting pollinators.

As most of you know, we had recently teamed up with Akron Honey to create some delicious bourbon honey and honey bourbon. It was such a blast to be able to work with them to create something special for our fans. We felt like we needed to take the time to give a shoutout to the people from Caledonia Spirits for coming up with this awesome fundraiser.

Here’s our take on the Bee’s Knees!  You know that we like to do things a little different than the norm, so while most Bee’s Knees are made with gin, honey syrup, and lemon, we added a few flavors to make it our own. We included some Black Cherry Wood Finished Bourbon and Polar Blueberry Lemonade Seltzer Water. Make sure to use the hashtag, #beeskneesweek2020, between September 18 and 27th when you share this cocktail with all of your followers.
